Today we skipped mental mathand went straight into correcting questions 2, 9, and 13. We still have time to work on 1-12 from the back of our binomial distribution booklets. Mr.maks recorded our corrections and as well as some new stuff that mr.maks made sure to inform us that around 40% of students BOMB this part on the provincial math exam and there is only about 30% of students from this school writing it... or something like that. SO this is pretty much vital information for us to pass our exams.
Our test is sometime after christmas though!
Don't forget grad hams tomorrow

population standard deviation
Population Standard Deviation
-measure of variability within a data set
-measures how varied the data set is, relative to itself
(How spread out the numbers are)
The formula for finding this would be:
"The square root of the quotient between the sum of all x subtract x bar squared divided by n."
HOMEWORK:
1. Find data
2. Calculate the population standard deviation
mean= x bar

probability test review
Today, all class we went over questions on probability from other tests.
On this test there will be:
"Pathways" Pascal's triangle
F.C.P (fundamental counting principle)
perms and coms
Sample space
(representation)
tree diagram complements
Independent/dependent events
"with replacement"
resetting probability conditions
Mutually inclusive/exclusive
This should be fun!

Factorial Notation
Permulation- an ordering of objects in which ORDER MATTERS
ex. phone number, locker permulation, postal code, etc..
Combination- an ordering of objects in which ORDER DOESN'T MATTER
ex. card hands, pizza topping, etc..
Today, we learnt what these words are and how to solve a problem. There are a few ways so check out the notes. We did not do mental math today either.

Fundamental Counting Principle
Today we learned about Fundamental Counting Principles.
A.K.A F.C.P (&Factorial Notation)
"...if you can do event A in a ways, and event B in b ways, and event C in c ways, etc.etc.... is.....
#of ways to do A,B,C =axbxc...
We also did mental math today and were assigned some accelerated math to do as well. SOOOO our homework involves finishing our vector projects, exercise 4 from the vectors book, all of exercise 2 from the counting principle booklet we just got, and accelerated math. That's a lot of homework especially because i'm not going to be here tomorrow or friday.

vector project
Today i started the vector project. My idea is to have a "stage" and dancers on it, the choreography requires one dancer to move from the south east side of the stage to the north west side of the stage. I have to find five different ways to get there moving through the other dancers spots. This should be fun.

parallelogram method exercise 3
i worked on exercise 3 today and got lots of help so i understand it really well now. I feel confident enough now to go on to exercise 4 which is supposedly a lot harder. I haven't started working on the big project yet i still don't understand it to the fullest.

vectors
No mental math today we just went straight into our homework. Mr.maks asked us if we wanted him to show us any questions so he did question three which actually seemed very easy after he explained it. I think i like this unit. He showed us in question three that it didn't matter where the hurricane was just as long as it was going 45 degrees north west and the first one is 3cm and the second is 4 cm. 1cm=10kph. Also a resultant vector is the distance from the end of one point to the end of the other when the two are added together

Today is early dismissal. So everyone should have lots of time to do their homework which is all of exercise 1 and 2.

vectors
We are starting the Vectors unit. To solve these problems we can use Euklid or you can use the cosine laws and trigonometry rules. Euklid can be downloaded at home too.
VECTOR: anything with both magnitude and direction. How much? And which way?
SCALAR:representable by position on a scale or line; having only magnitude
MAGNITUDE:size; extent; dimensions
REMINDER: Bring graph paper, ruler, and protractor
There are three methods:
1. degree? direction? of direction?
2.start direction? degrees? which way direction?
3. measures <360 angles using N=0, and clockwise so bearing is 340
Exercise 1 and 2 is for homework in our booklets

october 30
Today, we didn't do too much. Mental Math and that was halloween theme, and we learned that hallow's day is actually on november 1. Then we talked about the worlds biggest spider and a big spider web bigger than a persons finger. BIGGMAXX showed us his tweet deck and learned some stuff about a new grading system that might be in affect in a few years. Today is also moga madness and nobody in the class dressed up but there is a few people around school who participated.

Design and Measurement driveway
Today we corrected the drive question that was on page 6 of 6. Mr.Maks showed us how to make a template on excel to solve it. I understood it way more on excel. I understand when someone explains it to me but its hard to figure out the steps on my own.

cake
we finished the cake questions and mr maks gave us the answer key for our tests which we also got back. We have page 6 of 6 to do too

personal finance test
I guess i should put a little bit more effort into my blogs because today mr.maks complained about them. SOOO today, he showed us a bunch of net worth templates to use. Oh yeah, at the start he said he was giving us a test to see how much we know but it was also to trick us into paying attention. It worked. I usually always pay attention but i guess im just a little slow. For the net worth template mr.maks said that as long as we have the assets and liabilities in the right groups it shouldn't matter which place they go in.

cooper's condo
Today, the Coopers bought a condo and we helped them figure out the payments and everything. Mr.maks also showed us some tricks that helped us figure out these problems by minusing a whole bunch of steps.

Personal Finance
For calculating Personal Finance you can use either your calculator, excel, or applets on the internet but only if they are canadian ones. We have an example questions to do for homework
october fifth
Yesterday i forgot to blog so this is what we did. We did a "test" on sequences but it wasn't really a test. We picked two assignments that we finished from our last homework assignment and handed those in for marks.

homework
our homework today is to pick five questions to do using any of the four methods. These our the questions we can pick from. 2,3,4,8,10,11,13,14,15,16 and we have to do all the multiple choice questions.

method 3 and 4 for solving sequences
I am so lost. Method 3 was easy. All you do is go to this website and put the numbers in. www.shodar.org/interactivate/activities/Sequencer
The fourth method is hard. You do a bunch of stuff in your calculator and mr.maks totally lost me. Good thing it's recorded because i'll definitly be going back to watch it again. Our assignment is question 7.

Sequences and Series
We learned was fractals were today and showed us examples of how to solve these problems. There are four ways to solve them but he only showed us two. So, our homework is to try and find the other two methods. The ones that he showed us were on our calculator and the other on excel which seemed to be the easiest.

matrix test review
We did a test review today on matrix modelling. we learned four sections.
Matrix intro Matrix operations
*vocab * +
*naming * -
*calculator *scalar x
*matrix x
2. Matrix multiplication in context
(can you use it to speed up calculations?)
*AVOID "non-sense" CALCULATIONS
3.Transition matricies
*row by square
*"1 sums"
*loopies
*[b] * [a] ^n / [b] * [a] (n+1)
4. Networks
Directed Non-directed
one ---> two way <---->
node, direct route, "at most" "exactly"
[a] vs. [a]^2 vs. [a]^3 ...etc....

Goals
This course my number one goal is to go to as many tutoring classes as possible in order to pass this class with more than a 75. I joined this class a little late so my next goal is to keep myself from getting behind.Next semester I plan to pass all my classes with a 75 or up as well. I would like to finish my online gym work early so i can find a job and work in the afternoons and in the mornings next semester.
Next year i'd like to get into the University of Manitoba and take kinesiology to learn how to be a fitness instructor.
I'd like to get the job as a waitress at Timberland
I want to make my last year in high school a fun and peaceful one with as less drama as possible.
This year one thing i would like to do is to save up some money. Also a life goal would be to make sure i stay fit and healthy.
